The Department of Mathematics has started functioning in 2002, when Mathematics has been taught as a complementary course for B.Sc Computer Science and BCA. B.Sc Mathematics program has started functioning in the year 2014 with Computer Application and Statistics as complementary courses. The response to the course has been very positive and encouraging. The first batch passed out in March 2017 and we are proud of them that all have very good score for the complete semesters. The department has qualified efficient faculty who are dedicated in providing quality education and also take keen interest for the overall development of the students. Seminars, awareness programmers and lectures by eminent persons are conducted by Math Club “Limit Breakers” to equip the students to meet academic and professional challenges. Yes, mathematics proceeds with good calculations.

If you choose BSc. in Mathematics a lot of options that will be able to chose from. You can be mathematician, accountant, bank employee, researcher etc. Also you can avail jobs inISRO, IIT’s etc and in IT fields, they are offering good opportunity to those students who have good academic in Mathematics.

Mission of department of mathematics is to make the students capable of discharging professional, social & economic responsibilities ethically & also to produce Postgraduate students with strong foundation to join research or to serve in industry.

In fulfilling this mission the Department creates an environment where the faculty can continue to grow as teachers and scholars, while providing public and professional service.

OBJECTIVES

• Promote deep understanding in complex mathematical structures and their applications and deliver graduates with considerable mathematical skills and the desire to be involved in problem solving.
• To develop connections among Mathematics, Computer Science and related disciplines and offer a base in Computer Science.
• Provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and its applications.
• Moldingstudents as mathematical thinkers and enabling them to become lifelong learners.
• Knowledge of mathematical results and ability to communicate mathematical ideas and concepts with clarity and coherence.
• Ability of generalization, abstraction, logical reasoning, in particular, to be familiar with proof techniques and know how to apply the laws of logic in mathematical proofs.
• Ability to formulate and solve problems, including mathematical modeling of real situations.
• Qualities of individual work and ability to work in teams.
