Library

The Library is a collection of books, sources, resources and the structure in which it is housed that is organized and made accessible for reading or study. To accomplish this need, V. V. College of Science and Technologyhas a fully digitalised e-library named “SWADHYAAYA” housed in the first floor of main building. DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) system is used for classifying the books and the activities of library are automated with “KOHA” software. The library also provides OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) the library also has a good collection of books and CD’s in the field of Commerce, Computer Science, Geography, Mathematics, Electronics, English Literature, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Miscellaneous. The college also provide 15 more journals, 25 more periodicals, 5 newspapers, copies of dissertations and projects of past years and our college yearly magazine named “PRANAVAM” also included in the collection of library. The students can access e-resources through net connected computer systems.

The books are provided by the librarian according to the request of the students for a period of 15 days. Entry to the library is only for the students and staff of the college. The users of the library must want to keep the library rules and it’s a place of calm and peace. Daily quotes about reading are written on the black board of library.

GENERAL RULES

• The library kept open on all working days from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.
• Library users must want to register their name class/designation entry time and exit time in the user entry register kept in the entrance of the library hall.
• The library follows accession register, staff issue register and students issue register and so on.
• The library follows card system.
• The users must want to keep their footwear,personal belongings outside of the library.
• The mobile phone is strictly restricted inside the library hall.
• The users want to keep silence inside the library and the surroundings.
• Users can check the availability of books by using OPAC.
• The books taken by users must want to return the same in time without any damage if not they want to pay the three time cost for the book.
• The members must bring the ID card along with them.
• Users should not alter the arrangements of the book.
• Members must handle the books/ journals/ magazines with care marking with pen or pencil or writing highlighting, tearing will be viewed shall be punished.
• Reference books and journals shall not be taken out of the library these can be read only in the reading room.

• To help rural students to enrich their knowledge to create better world for themselves.
• To inculcate reading habits among the students and teaching community.
• To build a state of art facility to facilitate effective teaching and research in various aspects of communication.
• To provide a source of information which consulted may be enable students to make informed judgement.

The library ‘SVADHYAYA; is the pivotal point of our cultural and educational development. As new vistas of knowledge in all fields of education are opening up, the library plays a key position in the college curriculum.

• If a book is much demanded the librarian have the right to reduce the time span of the book.
• Reissue of a book is allowed only once other than the first use.
• The due date of a book will be marked in a slip attached to the book.
• The librarian has the right to recall a book at any time and it must want to return at the same time.
• The book must want to return on the same date. If it is a holiday the very next day it must want to return. Otherwise it will be charged a fine of 2 rupees per day.
• If the book was lost the borrower must want to replace the same book or to pay the three time cost of the book.
• All batches of students are strictly advised to follow their allotted library hours.
• “No dues certificates” must be obtained by the librarian to get the hall ticket and for discontinuation certificate,T C etc.
